CHINA ROHS LAWS

According to China’s Ministry of Information Industry (www.mii.gov.cn), the first Chinese legislation on control of hazardous substances in electronic products was officially released on November 6, 2006:

  • “ Management Method on Pollution Control of Electronic Information Products”? (Management Method)
  • “Limitation Requirements for Hazardous Substance in Electronic Information Products” (HS Limit Standard)
  • “Labeling Requirements for Hazardous Substance in Electronic Information Products” (Labeling Standard)
  • “Testing Method for Hazardous Substance in Electronic Information Products” (Testing Standard)

According to “Management Method”, China ROHS rules are to be implemented in stages. At the implementation date of March 1, 2007, all manufacturers of electronic information products who sell products in the China market should have declaration of the hazardous substances embedded in their products, indicating the quantity of the substances and safe usage period.

Products that have hazardous substances are required to declare the presence of these substances in product’s user’s manual in a table format:

部件名称

Component Name
有毒有害物质或元素 Hazardous Substances
铅(Pb) 汞(Hg) 镉(Cd) 六价铬(Cr6+) 多溴联苯(PBB) 多溴二苯醚(PBDE)

The official prints of the standards are being printed by Ministry of Information Industry. We will report more details as these standards become available. Please check back in a week.
